Wearing Black for London Today

Virginia Gal:

I was so upset to hear the news this morning . . . my heart goes out to all of your friends in London.

It is sad to say that I know how scared everyone must be, so I hope you are able to reach your friends by the end of today. Both you and they will be so glad to hear each others' voices. I pray that they will be all be well, and I hope that you will be too.

Big hugs out to you! I will be thinking of you and your friends all day. Funny how I haven't even met you, but you were the first I thought of this morning.

Sent very warmly,
Kath

Kath - oh my goodness, thank you so much for thinking of me, I am touched. God certainly sent you along today, because since the news yesterday, I've been feeling blue. Thankfully, this morning I was able to get in touch with my final friend who I was having difficulty finding and it seems everyone is ok. He actually works in the London financial district, so I was doubly worried, but he was away on travel yesterday in Italy.
This whole thing saddens me, I'm upset for the people who have suddenly lost a loved one when they shouldn't have, worried for my friends in London of a potential backlash against Muslims (as happend here in the States) and in despair over the use of my religion again being a vehicle for hate - when it was never meant to be that way. I hate these cowards who did this act, stop using my religion, I feel like screaming at them!
This whole thing is so sad - a generation shouldn't have to go through such a thing twice, if even once.
Thanks so much for your kind words and thoughts, you can't know how much it helps,
- Virginia Gal

I'm so glad that all of your friends are OK! Especially the one who works in the financial district, I am sure you were worried sick . . . I had a friend who worked in the Pentagon on 9/11 and it took me forever to reach him.

I do hope that there is no backlash against your friends, it it horrible that people tar all Muslims with the same brush . . . they wouldn't do the same if people did stuff in the name of Christianity (and there are groups who do.) Just know that a good number of people are actual rational human beings and know that only a small subset of criminals commit these horrible acts, and they do them in the name of all sorts of things, be they Muslim, Christian or just garden-variety wacko.

I continue to send many happy thoughts to you and your friends . . . it has only hardened my resolve to get to London one of these days . . . just have to get that pesky passport! :-)
